NewBridge School, based in San Diego, California and founded in 1996, serves students with learning disabilities in grades kindergarten through eighth. Our school focuses on teaching students HOW to learn using strategy-based methods to elicit efficient and effective acquisition and use information. Our students are taught about their abilities and disabilities to develop greater understanding of their individual learning styles. Instruction in learning strategies provides students the skills necessary to successfully transition to a more traditional school setting. Recently, our school has enhanced our technology initiative by adding a 1:1 iPad program. This has enhanced our teaching style by engaging and motivating our students. In turn, it has allowed our students to feel more successful and independent with grade level materials. Our 1:1 iPad program has created new bridges for our students and that is truly a remarkable experience for all involved.
